Good Skin Care Products - Clinique Coupon Codes

By Isreal Lawrence on Sep 11th, 2009

There are a whole host of opinions and advice circulating out there on how best to take care of one’s skin.

“When you eat a lot of chocolates or junk foods, you will get acne.” “Pimples are caused by poor hygiene.” “Skin care products with the word ‘natural’ on the label are good for you.”

How many of these maxims about skin care do you really believe in? In a world which puts too much stress on physical beauty, it is sometimes frustrating for an individual to have less-than-perfect skin, which is why it is tempting to believe in all these “principles” as far as skin care is concerned. I really do believe that a good skin care regimen really depends on genetics and common sense. It pays to be selective about which skin care advice you should take, and the latest fad (much like with dieting) is not always the course one should take. What you need to do is be a keen observant about which products lead you to have breakouts or skin rashes – and steer clear of them. At the end of the day, taking care of your skin is all a matter of choosing the right products and having a good skin care regimen that you can follow on a daily basis.

Cleanse

The first step will always start with washing one’s face. Simplicity is key here and there is no need to spend $50 or $60 on a super fancy wash. Though bear in mind, common bar soap will do you no good either. That stuff will dry out your face. This non-drying formula from Clinique will maintain protective lipids and loosen surface flakes, prepping the skin for exfoliation. You can find this Liquid Facial Soap in 3 skin typed formulas for Price $15

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is the step most people skip in their weekly skincare routine. But trust me, if you start properly exfoliating your skin, you will notice an almost immediate difference.

There are several methods in achieving this. Some more expensive and drastic than others. For example scrubs vs. a chemical peel. In the hour it takes to get a chemical peel, you can take off five years from your face. However can you afford the monthly bill for a chemical peel?

Our favorite method is a Clarifying Lotion. De-flakes, sweeps away buildups of oil and nudges fresher skin to the surface. This will help dry skins maximize moisture and oily skins avert breakout. This one from Clinique comes in 4 skin typedformulas and will run you $11.50 for a 6.7 oz. bottle.

Moisturize

While I know of at least one famous beauty editor who swore skin doesn’t need moisturizer, basically everyone else I’ve read disagrees and is an adamant believer in it. A basic law of beauty is that everyone, no matter her skin type, should moisturize. Even if your skin is oily, it will benefit from  moisturizers. (The only exception is those with acne). Why? Moisturizers seal moisture into skin. So how much should you moisturize? Your skin will tell you. When your skin is tight, it’s crying out for moisture. Be careful not to overmoisturize — this can cause clogged pores.

Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion won the Readers Choice Award at the 2009 “Glammies” presented by Glamour magazine. Price $24.00

Sunscreen

The number 1 cause of wrinkles is sun damage, so it’s important to use sunscreen from your early years on even in winter and on cloudy days. Time and again dermatologists and skin care experts say that applying sun screen is the most important part of a good skin care regimen.

City Block Sheer Oil-Free Daily Face Protector SPF 25 is a lightweight broad spectrum UVA/UVB daily sunscreen that will wick away perspiration and absorb excess oil. Perfect alone or as an invisible makeup primer. $17.50

Free Make-up, Free Cosmetics

Well I heard about this offer on the news and I had to share with my fellow bargain hunters!

Starting Tuesday, January 20, 2009, plan on getting to a department store early. January 20th is the date Macy’s, Dillard’s, Saks, Nordstrom and other stores will hand out free Lancome, Clinique, and other products….to end a decade long class action case. The lawsuit claims manufacturers fixed prices from 1994 to 2003.

To settle the case, they will offer women one $20 bottle of makeup, eye cream, or similar product: All you have to do is show up at a department store Tuesday. You don’t need to show a receipt….you will just have to sign a form saying you received your free jar, so that you can’t get another.
