Archie Bunker knew the score: a house just is not a home without a comfy chair. The chair from which you rest your behind is also the the throne in your castle. That chair from which you watch the television is also where you hold court. I’m sure you are catching my meaning here, it is a necessity and can be all things to all people. This is a vehicle for comfort, as well as your power center within the home.
Now that I’ve nailed home the importance of this singular piece of furniture, let me be the one to step forward to offer a helping hand in acquiring it. We have Target coupons that will save you $5-$50 off Target furniture! Yes, sure this is a great offer, but let’s not stop there…
Hartford Modern Home Club Chair Cushioned club chair, upholstered in brown leather on a solid poplar frame. Preside over your empire at a healthy price cut! This chair normally lists for $329.99, but is currently on sale for 15% off for a price of only $280.49 with free shipping!

Right now, Target is offering 15% off your purchase of $120 or more on dorm furniture. It’s a great deal because you can get all your back-to-school shopping done in one trip AND save a few hard earned dollars!
As a college student myself, my roommate and I are looking forward to furnishing our new apartment.
After living together for two years, we’ve agreed that extra comfy sphere chairs are ESSENTIAL! These colorful sphere chairs are only $40 dollars each, but I’ve definitely learned that you can’t put a price on comfort. There’s nothing better than to look forward to lounging in a chair that cradles you to warmth and comfort.
If you’re looking to go even cheaper, butterfly chairs have practically the same effect for half the price! Either way, if you’re on your way to college, at least one of these chairs is a necessity.
Trust me, when all your friends are over and they’re hogging your bed and floor as they play video games and you’ve got a mountain of reading to do, this chair will de-stress you and help you get things done! When you come home from a long day of classes, this chair will feel like heaven.
The next dorm/apartment essential is dorm bedding. Target has a great collection of extra long twin sized bedding at a reasonable price. This plaid bed in a bag is a great deal and it’s stylish too. This one’s only $70 and comes with everything you need.
Now that you’ve got your comfort essentials for your new dorm or living space, shop around at target and take advantage of the 15% off! You’ll find a ton of other stuff that you’ll need including lamps, school supplies, alarm clocks, and more!

Buying furniture to outfit our new house has been a long, and somewhat tedious process. We had a long list of items to purchase, and we’ve been steadily chipping away at it:assessing our options for style and affordablility. I’m happy to announce that with our acquisition of a certain rocker from the Modernica warehouse sale last night, we have just one glaring omission left on our list. This would be the sofa.
This has been a tough one. Oh we have found many that we simply drooled over, but the major sticking point has often been the price. Many of the sofas that we really liked, even on sale are going for somewhere between $1000-$2000. To be quite honest, with all the other items that we needed to acquire, and with a new baby almost here, we simply do not have that money to spend on a single item of furniture.
When searching for sofas in the sub-$1000 range we have run into yet another consistent problem. Simply put trying to find a piece that we both liked to look at and was of the highest quality within our price range. Many of the vital signs of quality (or lack thereof) can be obscured by the siren song of style: alluring upholstery, svelte arms, and come-hither cushions, all piled atop sexy bare, mid-century inspired legs I so adore.
A sofa is a big investment, an item we will no doubt have in our homes for at least 5 to 10 years, it behooves us to always buy the best quality we can afford.
Remember all of this information isn’t necessarily to be found on a website product description, or on the price tag in a show room. You will need to find a spec sheet or ask a salesman some very specific questions.
You will want to measure everything before you buy, and I mean everything. Measure the doorways, staircases, elevator, and just about anything else you can think of. You will have wasted a lot of time, energy, and possibly money if you get it home and discover it doesn’t fit through the doorway.
Aside from color alone, make sure you put some thought into the fabric itself. A delicate silk or velvet won’t do if you have kids and pets roughhousing on the couch. If you’re the type to eat dinner while lounging on the chesterfield, a micro fiber will easily forgive spills.
The thoughts of sofas, and when and where we were going to purchase, ran heavily through my head as we wandered that Modernica sale last night. This morning as I opened my email I found several forwards from my wife form the Urban Outfitters website. I guess she was up in the wee hours investigating more furniture! We are so often on the same page, hahahaha. I was really excited to find how many beautiful pieces they had in our price range. These are our two favorites:

Night and Day Convertible Sofa (Toffee)
Stylish seating by night or by day. Mid-century inspired tweed sofa boasts structured lines and generous seating by day. By night, it converts to a comfortable bed. Clicks easily into three positions for sitting upright, lounging back or sleeping. Removable roll arm cushions; rich solid wood legs; clean and simple at the back.
Exclusive to Urban Outfitters. Only $588!

Solid Ash Bungalow Sofa
We would be taking the decor in a slightly different direction if we chose this one. I’m comfortable with that however, something about this sofa grabs me. Clean, modern lines with a durable hardwood frame, constructed of solid ash. Inspired by a vintage thrift store find, the comfy seat and back are each just one big sectioned cushion - with removable covers for easy cleaning.
Exclusive to Urban Outfitters and on sale for $299 marked down from $575!

I was combing the Target website today for various odds and ends that we need, but yet to acquire. I noticed a really good deal they are currently offering: 15% off of furniture collection pieces when you spend over $125. This is in addition to the free shipping you will receive for any order over $50! If you have checked Target as of late, you have to have noticed that they have some very nice sleek and stylish furniture as of late for some very low prices. A deal like this 15% off and free shipping totally pushes the bargains into the territory of “Wow, that’ really cool”.
I know, these Target coupons sound very interesting don’t they? Do you like the idea of new furnishings and want to take advantage of deals like these but maybe aren’t sure where to start? Maybe you have a small space and you aren’t sure how to maximize it’s potential? Believe me I feel you, and I have lived in small spaces more than once. All you have to do is think things through, a perhaps be a little creative.

Often it seems patio furniture choices seem to be an afterthought. I really can’t think of how many times I have attended a backyard gathering and the outdoor furniture is old and shabby, and or out of sync with the the rest of the house. Now I really don’t want to give the impression that I’m one to judge another’s space, because I’m really not. The difference however is when I see the opposite, when thought is put into the outdoor furnishings as well as what’s going on inside, I can remember my reaction being more along the lines of : Wow, they really have a nice spread here.
I can admit to a touch of vanity, I really enjoy it when people remark on how nice my place is. I like it when we have people over and i hear, “Cool House”.
We have been doing quite a bit of work on the inside of our place as of late. We also have added a nice amount of greenery and plants to the porch and backyard areas. We have talked about updating our patio furniture several times. The thoughts of our July 4th party, and the guests we expect to have all summer long are inspiring us to make our move. A final push, to pull it all together you might say.
Patio furniture has really evolved past the plastic and metal offerings of yesteryear. Which is good, because I think it’s fair to say that both my wife and I are tired of the same old looks and offerings you may find in the outdoor sections of your standard home improvement store. While perusing the offerings from West Elm and their patio furniture deals, I found both individual pieces and collections that really made my eyes pop. Fantastic contemporary pieces that are crafted using the latest European-inspired styling to give one’s backyard a sleek, contemporary look. The styling on these pieces are really attention grabbing, and integrate perfectly with the mid century modern look we have on the inside of the house.
This wood slat dining collection has the streamlined modern look that I just adore. I really like the chocolate finish pictured above, but West Elm offers five different light to dark finishes to choose from. Save up 60% at West Elm’s Dash for Design sale. Come check out all of our West Elm Coupons and get your patio in order. You will love the compliments you will hear I swear!

One of the worst things about liking furniture, is that often I run across a piece, fall in love with it, and then when I look at the price tag and realize that there is no way I will be purchasing said piece anytime soon. In most cases the Hampton Coffee Table from Pottery Barn would be a perfect example:
“Hello, Hampton Coffee Table you are a very good looking piece of design-ey furniture and I’d love it if you came and lived with me. What?! $995?!? Well maybe later…”.
Ahhh but I needed to stick around to hear the three sweetest words in English shopping language: Clearance Sale prices. This great table is $399.99? Hmmm well now, this changes everything…I get the feeling the Hampton Coffee Table and I may in fact, have a long and fruitful relationship.
A book-matched mahogany veneer displays a dramatic grain pattern on the tabletop framed by a raised rim. This elegant flourish is balanced by a traditional design, with scooped ends and square, cross-braced legs. The legs, apron and stretchers are solid light red luan. Mahogany finish on all sides, including lacquer sealant, as part of a multi-step hand finishing process. Simply magnificent.
Hampton Coffee Table - Originally $995 on Clearance for only $399.99 at Pottery Barn
Clearance Sale prices of up to 75% off a beautiful concept that makes the heart’s desire so much more…attainable.

I am a big fan of having themed dinner parties. I know what that sounds like…no there are no costumes involved! No usually the themes revolve around the refreshments served. In particular, the drinks. I like to pick a specific cocktail, and this is what I serve to everyone invited. I usually peruse bartender recipe books, and come up with something a little left of center. A selection that most people would never think to order themselves at a bar or restaurant. The idea usually goes over really well. People enjoy it. I can also do something a little fancy, but since I’m the only one preparing one type of drink it is much easier on me and I have more time to socialize with my guests.
The weather is heating up, occasions like these call for drink recipes that reflect the season. Variations on the margarita theme are always popular. If your father shares any of my “wish to entertain” traits, I suggest you keep this in mind come Father’s Day. I have come across some great Williams-Sonoma Coupons.
Williams-Sonoma has this fantastic Premium Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker available at a heavily discounted price this season. Create the perfect margarita by simply measuring the ingredients and ice, then flipping a switch. With its brushed-nickel finish and stainless-steel accents, this premium version of the Original Margaritaville Maker features automatic settings for margaritas, daiquiris, coladas and smoothies. Its clear-plastic ice hopper has the capacity to produce two pitchers of refreshing beverage. Unlike a blender, this appliance features two powerful mechanisms: one for shaving (not chopping) the ice, the other for quickly blending just the right proportion of ingredients and ice into its glass pitcher. Because the downtime between batches is brief, the pitcher can be quickly refilled - a great benefit when you’re entertaining a crowd.
Not only are they offering a discount of $150, but if you order now they will throw in a free gift valued at $50! How about that?!To check out all the exclusive discount deals and free coupons for Williams-Sonoma - Click here.
If you are intersted in the Premium Margaritaville Frozen Concoction Maker - Click here or the image above.
Wow! This sounds to me like a party I would like to go too! Dad’s barbecues this summer will be hard to beat!

I spent most of Memorial Day on Monday around my house, but outside. We cooked some food on the grill, hung out, it was very therapeutic. Oh the weather in Los Angeles has been nice, very nice indeed. The sweet California sunshine can be a wondrous thing. Quite the switch from recent years that I have spent back east, where it has been nail bitingly cold for six months then transitions into humid and swampy. Yes we were having a great time, but I also started getting a little bummed out.
California weather has quite a bit going for her, but she can also be a cruel mistress…you see she is killing my lawn and plants. Yes, we water regularly but the sun is just burning them up. I believe the time has come to be proactive and take some steps to avert certain disaster.
As we entered our nearby Home Depot to obtain all of our necessary supplies, Sara’s attention was drawn to the patio furniture. “We really should pay some attention to the patio situation”, she was telling me. My first inclination was to say, “Oh come on, let’s just get what we came for”. Sara’s persistence and logic always has a way of changing my mind though, “So you want a good looking lawn, but don’t care if the patio area looks crummy?”. Okay, fair enough. Though if we are going to think of purchasing new patio furniture, what do we have to consider?
- Too Eat or Too Talk? - As with any new patio furniture purchase you should step back and look at the space you want to fill. Begin by thinking of what you’ll need. Is it for dining, or just lounging? Deciding what you’ll use the space for will help you begin to figure out what you’ll need.
- People or Alone Time? - Imagine what you want the space to look like. Do you want a seating area that you can have a lot of people in conversing? Or do you want a place you can be alone and read in? Knowing how you want the area to look will also help you figure out what to get and how much.
- What Style? - You need to be aware that materials convey styles and eras. Wrought iron is thought of as Victorian, wicker is romantic and wood feels rustic and warm. Decide what style you want to convey.
- Warranty? - When you’re ready to start looking at patio furniture look at warranties, and care instructions. Make sure the furniture is durable and the parts are easy to replace. Decide what works for you as far as the amount of maintenance needed.
- Fabrics Choices - Make sure fabrics are water resistant and plan to retreat these annually. Also, check that hardware and brass are galvanized and stain resistant.
- Bargains & Deals - Look for bargains in floor models, pieces with minor scratches or discontinued styles. You might be able to find sets that are missing a cushion, for example, and you can get a deal on that.
- Shop with a budget in mind, but look for value over price. Home Depot is currently offering 25% off of selected patio sets as well as free shipping! Let me tell you, that little sale went a long way in convincing me to come around to Sara’s way of thinking
- Try it OUT! - Before you buy it try it out! Make sure you like the styles you choose and that you are comfortable in them. Be sure you know return policies, etc.
Believe me, if you decide to take the plunge and go this direction, I have no doubt you will be so happy you did, and with these Home Depot coupons you will be even happier. Think of all the comfort and pride radiating from you home as you entertain in these warm upcoming months. Yeah, it’ll be great.
Suffice to say, Sara won out and this weekend I plan on napping on our new Hampton Bay Wicker Patio set..

Let’s all do a little meditation shall we? No I’m not trying to be corny (not trying, but it comes naturally). I want us all to think of what our bed means to us…and what it takes for a bed to make us happy. Comfort is key sure…it also needs to fit our space in look and dimension. There are quite a few factors to consider, we spend a lot of time with our beds. When we need a new one, when it’s time to step up, what should we look for? There are times when it really, really pays to do your research. Purchasing a major piece of furniture is definitely one of those times. You are going to most likely drop a nice chunk of change, so you better be sure you are happy with it for the long term. I don’t think going cheap for cheap’s sake is the route to take on this decision either. That futon is probably not going to make you happy. I see nothing wrong in spending some real money to get something that will make you happy if said acquisition can possibly last you 20 years. So how do we find a bed that will stand the test of time, satisfy us in the long term? Well go beyond just heading to the bed store and rolling around on the floor models for a few minutes.Do some research, find out about the manufactures and read some reviews. What do other people think about the mattress? Are other customers happy with their buy? If other customers are unhappy with a particular bed, what do they recommend and why? Alternatively, you may want to talk to your physician or even a chiropractor to see what they recommend. A chiropractor can recommend a bed type that will give your spine the maximum support it requires while it gives you the maximum comfort you need. Pay attention to the materials used in the construction of not only the frame, but of the mattress. Think resiliency. They do still make ‘em like back in granddads day, you just have to pay attention. You also need to take some exact measurements and think things through. Room size and dimensions? What size of bed will I be purchasing? What size mattress will I need? Measure the room and area the bed is destined for. Will the length of the entire bed fit in the area provided? Do you have space for a headboard and footboard, or just the bed? Will there be enough space for a nightstand, mirror, and/or a bench? What about the width? Don’t forget that, unless you are thinking futon, daybed, or platform bed, you will need to purchase both a boxspring and a foundatiion.
Here is a bit of reference, so you can keep everything straight:
Mattress Size Also Known AS Inches Feet
- Twin (a.k.a Twinsize) 39″ x 75″ 3′3″ x 6′3″
- Twin Extra Long (a.k.a Twinsize Long) 39″ x 80″ 3′3″ x 6′8″
- Full (a.k.a Double) 54″ x 75″ 4′6″ x 6′3″
- Full Extra Long (a.k.a Double Long) 54″ x 80″ 4′6″ x 6′8″
- Queen (a.k.a Queensize) 60″ x 80″ 5′0″ x 6′8″
- Queen Split (a.k.a Queensize Split) 2 x 30″ x 80″ 5′0″ x 6′8″
- King (a.k.a Eastern King) 76″ x 80″ 6′4″ x 6′8″
- King Split (a.k.a Eastern King Split) 2 X 39″ x 80″ 6′6″ x 6′8″
- California King (a.k.a Western King) 72″ x 84″ 6′0″ x 7′0″
Now that you are ready to shop, where should you start?
May I recommend the following bedroom furniture deals:

West Elm happens to be one of those stores that I dearly love. There comes a point in life when you effectively grow out of college furnishings (ex. cinder block bookcases and assorted mis-matched, hand-me-down couches) but you still can’t quite afford the fancy pancy pieces your grandparents seem to own.
Cue awesome furniture stores like West Elm! They offer stylish, classy furniture that also happens to be affordable to boot. If you are searching for new furniture to update your home, or you just need to get rid of your old junk and pick up fresh pieces you must checkout WEST ELM’S SALE. Take 75% Off new items, select furniture, lighting, decorative pillows, bath items, outdoor furniture and more!
